Senior Full-Stack Engineer

Remote

Remote — Global · Full-time

expand_more

Ship production web platforms end-to-end — from spec to deploy — alongside the founder. You'll own real features for real clients and use AI tooling to move at 3× the pace of a typical agency engineer.

What you'll do

  • Build production features in Django (DRF) and Next.js (App Router) end-to-end — backend, frontend, data model, and deploy.
  • Own the technical scoping of new client engagements alongside the project lead.
  • Use AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) as a daily multiplier — but ship code humans have read.
  • Pair with the founder on architecture decisions for greenfield builds.
  • Demo work to clients weekly and write clear, concise change summaries.

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years shipping production software, with at least 2 of those in Python (Django, FastAPI) and 2 in TypeScript (React/Next.js).
  • Comfortable being the sole engineer on a client project for weeks at a time — including talking to the client.
  • Solid grasp of relational data modelling, REST API design, and modern frontend patterns.
  • Demonstrated, daily use of AI coding tools — not as a novelty.
  • Excellent written communication. We're async-first; if you can't write clearly, you can't work here.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Stripe / Paystack integrations.
  • Background working with African startups or fintech.
  • Open-source contributions you can point to.

Recruitment process

  1. Application review — we reply within 5 working days, every time.
  2. 30-min intro call with the founder.
  3. Paid take-home (4–6 hours, drawn from a real codebase pattern).
  4. 90-min pairing session with two team members.
  5. Final conversation with the founder and offer.

AI Engineer (LLMs, Agents, RAG)

Remote

Remote — Global · Full-time

expand_more

Design and build the LLM-powered features inside our client products — agents that take actions, RAG systems that ground answers in client data, and structured-output pipelines that survive production traffic.

What you'll do

  • Design prompt and agent architectures for client features (chatbots, copilots, document automation, classification).
  • Build retrieval pipelines — embeddings, vector stores, hybrid search, reranking.
  • Wire tool-using agents that read and write to client systems safely.
  • Set up evals so feature quality doesn't quietly regress with model upgrades.
  • Own cost, latency, and reliability of every LLM-powered surface you ship.

What we're looking for

  • 3+ years building production AI features (not just notebooks or demos).
  • Strong Python; comfortable with at least one of: OpenAI, Anthropic, or local-LLM inference stacks.
  • Practical knowledge of structured outputs, function calling / tool use, and prompt-caching patterns.
  • Experience with at least one vector store (Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector, etc.).
  • Clear-eyed about LLM failure modes — knows when to use one and when not to.

Nice to have

  • Experience tuning open-weight models or running self-hosted inference.
  • Familiarity with multi-agent frameworks (LangGraph, CrewAI, Mastra, etc.).
  • Published work, papers, or blog posts on applied LLMs.

Recruitment process

  1. Application review — we reply within 5 working days.
  2. 30-min intro call with the founder.
  3. Paid take-home — design an agent for a realistic client scenario.
  4. 60-min technical deep-dive on your take-home and prior work.
  5. Final conversation and offer.

Senior Mobile Engineer (React Native)

Remote

Remote — Global · Full-time

expand_more

Build mobile apps that feel native, ship to the App Store and Play Store fast, and survive review processes without drama. You'll own mobile delivery across multiple client engagements.

What you'll do

  • Ship React Native (Expo) apps end-to-end — from project skeleton to App Store submission.
  • Integrate native modules when JavaScript isn't enough; write the Swift / Kotlin shim yourself.
  • Own EAS Build, signing, certificates, and store submissions for every project you lead.
  • Build offline-first patterns, push notifications, and biometric auth as common requirements.
  • Pair with backend engineers to design clean mobile-friendly APIs.

What we're looking for

  • 4+ years shipping React Native apps to both stores. Submitted apps, not just side projects.
  • Comfortable with native iOS or Android tooling when needed — at least familiarity with Xcode and Android Studio.
  • Practical knowledge of EAS Build, OTA updates, and over-the-air rollout strategies.
  • Solid TypeScript; familiarity with React Query / Zustand or similar state patterns.
  • Track record of debugging gnarly bridge / native-side issues, not just JS bugs.

Nice to have

  • Flutter experience (we occasionally take on Flutter projects).
  • Background with payments SDKs (Stripe, Paystack, in-app purchases).
  • Experience with React Native + Expo Modules at scale.

Recruitment process

  1. Application review — we reply within 5 working days.
  2. 30-min intro call with the founder.
  3. Paid take-home — small feature in an existing Expo codebase.
  4. 60-min pairing session focused on a tricky bridge scenario.
  5. Final conversation and offer.

Platform / DevOps Engineer

Remote

Remote — Global · Full-time

expand_more

Own the boring-but-critical stuff: CI/CD, observability, security baselines, cost. You'll set up new client environments in hours, not days, and keep production well-behaved while engineers focus on features.

What you'll do

  • Maintain and extend our deployment templates — Docker, GitHub Actions, AWS Lightsail, Vercel, S3/CloudFront.
  • Stand up new client environments (staging + prod) within hours of project kickoff.
  • Own logging, error tracking (Sentry), uptime checks, and on-call rotations.
  • Tighten security baselines: secrets management, TLS, dependency scanning, least-privilege IAM.
  • Track and tune cloud spend across all active client environments.

What we're looking for

  • 4+ years in DevOps / SRE / platform engineering for small teams.
  • Deep AWS experience — Lightsail, ECR, S3, IAM, CloudFront, RDS, Route 53.
  • Comfortable with Docker, GitHub Actions, and at least one IaC tool (Terraform / Pulumi / SAM).
  • Linux fluency: you can debug a misbehaving systemd unit, read nginx access logs, and tune a Postgres slow query.
  • Pragmatic security mindset — knows when to use Vault and when an env var is fine.

Nice to have

  • Experience running Celery + Redis at scale.
  • Postgres tuning experience (vacuum, indexes, partitioning).
  • Background with Cloudflare workers / edge functions.

Recruitment process

  1. Application review — we reply within 5 working days.
  2. 30-min intro call with the founder.
  3. Take-home — design an environment for a hypothetical client (3–4 hours, paid).
  4. 60-min systems-design conversation.
  5. Final conversation and offer.

Operations

2 open · Hybrid Lagos

Project & Delivery Lead

Hybrid

Hybrid — Lagos, Nigeria (2 days/week in-office) · Full-time

expand_more

Own client outcomes end-to-end. You're the person clients message when they want a status, the person engineers nudge when scope creeps, and the person who turns 'we should build X' into a shipped product.

What you'll do

  • Run weekly demos for every active client. Make sure every demo shows real progress.
  • Own the project timeline — push back on scope creep, flag risks early, write the post-mortems.
  • Translate client conversations into clear engineering tickets and vice versa.
  • Coordinate the engineering team's load across multiple concurrent engagements.
  • Run kickoffs, mid-project reviews, and launch handoffs. Write everything down.

What we're looking for

  • 3+ years running software projects (agency, in-house, or consultancy — any).
  • Comfortable being the technical translator: you don't write code daily but you can read a PR, understand the trade-off, and explain it to a non-technical founder.
  • Sharp written communication. Most of your job is writing clearly.
  • Calm under pressure; clients escalate, and you don't.
  • Based in Lagos and willing to be in-office Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Nice to have

  • Background in software engineering or product management.
  • Experience working with African and Western clients simultaneously across time zones.
  • Comfort with Notion, Linear, Slack, and Loom as primary tools.

Recruitment process

  1. Application review — we reply within 5 working days.
  2. 30-min intro call with the founder.
  3. Scenario exercise — written response to a realistic mid-project client situation.
  4. 60-min conversation with the founder and the lead engineer.
  5. Reference check and offer.

Operations & Client Success Associate

Hybrid

Hybrid — Lagos, Nigeria (2 days/week in-office) · Full-time

expand_more

Keep the company running. You'll own onboarding, finance ops, vendor management, and the dozen small things that make a small team feel professional. If you like making chaos legible, this is for you.

What you'll do

  • Run client onboarding: contracts, NDAs, kickoff scheduling, environment provisioning requests.
  • Manage invoicing, payment follow-ups, and basic bookkeeping (we use Wave / Quickbooks).
  • Maintain our internal docs — the playbook for how we run.
  • Coordinate vendor relationships: hosting, software licenses, recurring subscriptions.
  • Support recruitment ops: scheduling interviews, tracking candidates, sending offers.

What we're looking for

  • 2+ years in operations, executive assistant, or business-management roles.
  • Excellent organisational instincts; nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Comfortable with spreadsheets, Notion / Confluence, and basic accounting workflows.
  • Clear, professional written and spoken English. You're often the first point of contact for new clients.
  • Based in Lagos and willing to be in-office Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting a small consultancy or agency.
  • Familiarity with Stripe / Paystack invoicing workflows.
  • Light project-management exposure (running someone else's calendar etc.).

Recruitment process

  1. Application review — we reply within 5 working days.
  2. 30-min intro call.
  3. Practical exercise — short take-home (under 1 hour) on prioritising a chaotic week.
  4. Final conversation with the founder.
  5. Reference check and offer.
mailHow to apply

Send your CV and a short note to careers@stackmog.com

Include the role title in the subject line. In the note, tell us about a real thing you've shipped — the gnarlier the trade-offs, the better. Link to code, demos, or writing if you have them.

We reply to every application within 5 working days. If you don't hear back, check your spam folder and then email careers@stackmog.com again — we'd rather get a follow-up than lose a good application.

Don't see your role? We hire opportunistically when we meet someone exceptional. Send a note to careers@stackmog.com anyway — tell us what you'd want to build.
